Why Tom Brady’s Diet Isn’t “Absurd”
February 5, 2018
While watching the Super Bowl with a group of friends last night, the conversation rolled around to Tom Brady's "crazy diet" -- and a recent article in Men's Health magazine entitled, "Why Tom Brady's Diet Is Absurd."
What is so "absurd" about Tom Brady's diet??? All he does is:
- focuses on whole foods in their natural state
- avoids processed and packaged foods (which contain wheat, conventional dairy, high-fructose corn syrup and processed seed oils, all of which cause systemic inflammation.)
- avoids anything else that causes inflammation in his particular body, which happens to include nightshades (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, peppers, etc.).
Humans have survived -- and thrived -- by eating a diet like Tom Brady's for 99.9% of our existence.
Maybe Tom Brady has to be a little stricter than the rest of us because he's competing against guys half his age -- and twice his size -- and his livelihood requires him to be in peak physical condition, but there is nothing "absurd" about his diet. He eats FOOD. Honestly, the rest of us could all stand to eat a little more like Tom Brady!
I have yet to have a client who didn't benefit from eliminating inflammatory foods from his/her diet. Is it really so "absurd" to want to feel good all the time?
